Everything Easel...

I really can't stop making Easel cards at the moment. They are so simply to design and put together but give such a great WOW factor.

This one is actually my very first Easel card. A lovely lady, who I met at my monthly Mums and Bubs Market, emailed me and asked to make her a special Mothers Day card for her first mothers day ever!! I was so excited to be asked to make my first commissioned card... but had no idea what to make. Anyway I had been waiting to make the Easel design for a while so thought I would give it a go and here it is...

I'm sorry the photo isn't that great, but it was being picked up straight away so didn't get time to get anything better.

The main card stock is Early Espresso backed on to Crumb Cake and then stamped in Pear Pizzazz and the gorgeous little humming bird is Early Espresso again.

This is a side view for anyone reading this, who is asking "What's an Easel Card?" Splitcoaststampers have a great tutorial HERE.

Cute isn't it!!

I am almost ready to move on from Easel cards, but I do have one more left to show (I did say I am ALMOST ready lol). This one is an extra special card as it is giving you a sneak peek of  super new, super exciting and super special, one of a kind Stamp set, that I don't think even our American Cousins have ever seen. I googled the name of it the other day and an older stamp set came up so I can't wait to show you all.

I have to wait for 1st of June before I show you the whole set but... come back tomorrow and I'll give you a sneak peek of the card I made using it. I've gotta say I love this set and can't believe we only have a month to get our hands on it!!!

Anyway, off to take the kids and the dog for a walk along the beach, on this lovely, sunny Sunday. Hope you are all enjoy your day of rest and catch up with you soon,

Have Fun

Hoot Loves you...

I'm more then happy to admit, I'm must be the last Stampin' Up Demonstrator to have fallen in love with the Owl punch. Why has it taken me so long to try it out, I don't know, but now I think I've found a new addiction. This little fellow is so much fun. I actually borrowed the punch from my BFF and I'm now I'm waiting to get my hands on my own one.

I love the fact that you can add a few accessories to make the little owls suit whatever type of card it is. These two are also showing off my new love for Easel Cards. Yes, yet again I am late on finding this great card technique... i think I've been hiding under a HUGE rock lately !!!

This is for one of my favorite fellow SU demos Rochelle Blok. We are both on a Birthday card swap together (you can see the cards I received here) and her birthday is in June. Now I know what you're going to say, the card says " Birthday wishes (a little bit late!)" and I'm super early. Well I have to confess I thought I had missed it already... Like I said I have been under an ENORMOUS rock lately lol.

I'll make another one for Rochelle, but I'll change around the colours and patterned paper a little and with a more fitting saying!!!

Now this one came about after I had punched out the Patterned paper for the Owls bellies. I just used two pieces of random scrapes from the Spice Cake paper (super sad this patterned paper retired as I would have loved more of it), and when I looked at it, I immediately thought that one looked like a waistcoat and the other a little summer dress... ok so maybe you can't see it, but the inspiration from that hit me and I thought "Hey, they make a lovely little married couple!!!

And THIS is what I love most about the Owls. I just added a few rhinestones to Mrs Owl and made a little top hat out of some card stock for Mr Owl and they have turned into a super cute wedding card!! You'll also notice I added some party hats (or tiny scrap triangles lol) to the birthday card and it finished the design. How easy is that !!!

Mr and Mrs Owl are off to yet another swap group I'm part off called Stampin' Up Card Swap. It's a Facebook page where anyone can join to take part. You just send one card off each month and in return you will receive a card. the swap is international so your card could go or come from anywhere in the world. It's really good fun and I have been on it for a few months now. And you can send any type of card. So why not "like" the page and take part. You never know, your next card might come from yours truly!!!

Oh and if you like the Patterned Paper I've used, don't forget that for the whole month of May Stampin' Up have the Paper Party happening. For every 3 packs of Patterned Paper you buy you get another for for FREE... Just think of how may owls I could make with all of that!!! To find out more click here!!

Have fun,
Chlo

Tri-fold Shutter measurements

Since I posted the tri shutter card, I've had lots of requests for the measurements and instructions on how to make them.

If you want to use 12" x 12" cardstock, Splitcoast Stampers is the place to go. They have an amazing website, with Resources, Techniques, a great Forum and an amazing Gallery. I pretty much live there most of the day lol.

But I wanted the measurements for our, Australian, Stampin' Up size paper. I'm not sure why, but SU paper from America is a different size to our Australian paper... very strange!!

So, for everyone who has been asking... here it is:

1) First you need a piece of card stock that measures 10 1/2" x 5 1/2".

2) Next score downwards at 1 3/4", 3 1/2", 7" and 8 3/4".

3) Next, cut from 1 3/4" scored line to the 8 3/4" line. 1 3/4" in on both sides. (Hope this makes sense!!)

4) Next, fold the score lines... This is a bit hard to explain so hope the next two photos show you how it works.

And thats about it. Now all you need to do is add your coloured cardstock, patterned papers and embellishments and Voila.... It's honestly really simple and you'll be hooked. I know I am!!!

Tri Folder Shutter cards = AWESOME!!

Ok, so I know that Tri Fold Shutter cards have been around since the dawn of man... well kind of, but this is the first time I have actually sat down and made one. Well, I made two but I haven't had chance to take a photo of the other one yet. And secretly this one is my favorite.

Don't you just love this patterned paper!!! I think this is my favorite by far and that's saying something as I love so many of Stampin' Up's Designer Series Paper. This one is called Berry Blossoms and uses mostly the 2011/2013 In colours.

Now is also a great time to get your hands on some Designer Series Paper. Stampin' Up are having a Paper Party for the month of May. For every 3 packs of paper you buy, you will get another one free... who wouldn't want to go to that party ?!?!

I am yet again off to the local Mums and Bubs Market, here in Port Macquarie and as it is Mothers Day a week on Sunday here in Australia, I thought I would make this one a Mother's Day card. I'm kind of secretly hoping it doesn't sell as I would really like to keep it for myself !!

Thanks for popping in,
Chlo

Lovin a Mixed Bunch

So I set out to make my customers Thank You cards for May and knew without a doubt the new Mixed Bunch stamp set and the co-coordinating Blossom punch was the one to use. This is the first time I have used the punch and I love it. I used off cuts of patterned paper to make the Blossoms and then used the stamp set for the middle.... super simple but I think they come together beautifully.

I hope my customers like them as much as I do... I almost don't want to give them away lol.

Have Fun,
Chlo
