JAI Just add Critters Challenge #353 - Jar of Love

I have that fantastic Friday feeling and to kick of my weekend I have a challenge from the JAI gang. This week we are Just Adding Critters.

Now it turns out I don't really like critters in real life or in my craft life as I don't have anything that I would class as a Critter. The word makes me thing of rats, mice, squirrel, foxes, raccoons, those sorts of things but as I was looking at my stamps, I suddenly thought that bugs are critters too. So my card today I used the fun little bumble bee die from the Detailed Dragonflies Thinlits:

Gosh, he almost looks fuzzy in the gold glimmer paper. My gorgous blooms are from the Jar of Love set which really hasn't seen as much ink as it should have. This set has lots of little two step or even three step stamping and the sky it totally the limit.

I versamarked and the white heat embossed my sentiment onto the black cardstock. The sentiment is actually from yet another set called Love and Affection. I really hit up my Annual Catalogue hard this week. Sometimes we get so carried away with whats new and forget about all the other amazing stamps set that are still available in the Annual catty.

So make sure you find some time this weekend to
hop on over to the JAI blog and check out the other cute little critters that the rest of the team have come up with.

Chlo

TGIF Case the Designer #100 - Sweet Cupcake

Welcome to a super exciting post for the Designer Team at TGIF this week. Being the end of the month means it's a Case the Designer week and we are casing none other then our leader and super talented Mercedes Weber. Plus this is our #100 challenge too!!

So when you pop over and take a look at Mercedes amazing card creations, I noticed that she will often makes a batch of cards using lots of Designer Series Paper but with the same layout. So keeping that idea in mind, this is what I came up with:

It's such a simple design and it shows off the DSP perfectly. It's also a great way to make a huge batch of cards in a very sort time (perfect for all the birthday parties my kids seem to be invited too, these days)

I ended up making a batch of these using the colours in the gorgeous Tasty Treats Designer series paper and that paper pairs perfectly with the Sweet Cupcakes stamp set and dies.

I'm so thrilled with how these cards came out and I will be using this layout again, that's for sure!! So now it's time for you to head on over and check out what all the other DT's have made.

And make sure you all visit Mercedes blog too. You are bound to find heaps of inspiration!!

Happy Crafting,

JAI Just Add "L" Challenge #351 - First Sight

Hooray it's friday and that mean's the start of what is bound to be another fantastic weekend and a new Challenge over at the Just Add Ink blog. This week myself and the gang have an 'L' Challenge for you.

I decided to just add "Love" for my L and made a Mother's Day card for my mummy. She lives in England (and sometimes in India) and her Mother's Day is actually the day before my birthday this year.

It's really lovely and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Now the inspiration for this card actually came from a card that I saw made by Kim Oliver over at K.O Creations. I absolutely loved how she used the two tone stamping on her sentiments and the layering in the main focal image is just gorgeous. So I decided to CASE that idea but change it up to suit my theme.

I think First Sight is one of the best stamp sets we have and the phrases is adorable. Perfect for a Mother's day card.

To get the two toned effect on the heart stamp, I first inked up my image in Blushing Bride and then used my Flirty Flamingo marker to ink around the edges of the heart. It really does give the card a beautiful effect.

So now it's over to you!! Head on over to the JAI blog, take a peek at all the other amazing DT cards and then get creating!!

Chlo

TGIF Sketch Challenge #98 - High Tide

Happy Friday guys and welcome to an awesome sketch challenge from the TGIF team. This week the team and I have been working on show casing a really fun sketch.
My card for this week is maybe a bit of a stretch on the original design. I do like to male cards that are tall and skinny and so I decided to actually turn the sketch onto it's side.
I really do love this new stamp set called High Tide. It's perfect for both male and female cards and the sentiments are so heartfelt. I also love the font and style of them too... Ok, so I am a little smitten with this set. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it carry's over into the new Annual Catalogue.

I really enjoy layering all the different stamps in the set to design a picture or separate elements. This time around I decided to stamp my lighthouse in Real Red, but it looks just as amazing in blues, greens or neutrals.

The other little element I want to share with you, is how I added a slight highlight to the top of each beam of light. I stamped the three beams in So Saffron, and then I reinked the beam a second time, in So Saffron again but using just the edge of the ink pad. After stamping it again in the same place over the top of the original, it adds the darker layer. Pretty neat trick!

Now, it's over to you guys. I'm so excited to see what you make with this weeks sketch and don't forget to look in on the other DT's designs too.

Happy Crafting,
Chlo
