TGIF #118 Emboss Resist Technique - Dragonfly Dreams

I just love this weeks challenge at TGIF. I adore the emboss resist technique so I couldn't wait to get started.

As I was choosing a stamp set and thinking what I wanted to make, I picked up my Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and realized that it has been ages since I last inked this set up. I had always loved it and have used it heaps, but recently it has sat a little unloved so I knew today was the perfect day:

I had originally thought to make this card in a shade of blue, but I just couldn't get the right look, so I thought I'll change it up to pink and I'm totally loving it.

OK so are you wondering what happened to the actual dragonfly?? I did plan to use a whole copper dragonfly but I had recently lent my precision plate out to my friend and it meant that I couldn't use it for the Dragonflies. I tried to use my normal Bigshot plates but that little sucker would not come out whole. So while I was looking at my pile of copper wings, I had this great idea. I'll just use the wings on their own!!

So now it's over to you guys. I really can't wait to check out what you all create with this fun challenge. Oh and don't forget to check out the other amazing designers beautiful cards. So much to CASE there!!

Happy Crafting,

I love a "Secret Garden"

I was so pleased when Stampin' Up started bringing out Framelit shapes. I thought, wow this really can't get any better... that was until I opened the new Seasonal Catty and saw all the new framelits!!

I totally adore the new Secret Garden stamp set and matching Framelits.  No more tricky cutting around petals and leaves. Just stamp the image and run through Mr Big!! I can tell you now, my girls are going to go CRAZY over these, they hate it when we have a class and I MAKE them cut out flowers, I'm sadistic that way lol.

Todays card, I made for my cousin and my BFF who both moved over the last two weeks. I know crazy hey. The photo doesn't really do the card much justice as I had to take the shot late at night, so that I could pop them in the post the next day.

This card is yet another case, found on Pinterest, and I have only just realised, as I type this, that it's yet another Karen Barber creation. Now for some reason you can't find her original card on her blog, but I have put up the link to the card which is on SplitcoastStampers.... See I told you she is awesome!!!

Anyway, I have used the new Secret Garden stamp set for my card and I just love how gorgeous the flowers all stamp, though I think this one is going to be my "go to" flower lol. Oh and by the way, any card that uses the Emboss resistant technique is a winner in my book.

Now, when I came to do the sentiment, it occurred to me, that I don't actually have a pharse to go on a "moving" card. So I thought the "Just for You" saying out of the Just Believe stamp set would just about cover it!!

Have Fun,
Chlo

My Dynamic Duo

I have always loved the 2012/2013 In-colours. Pool Party and Calypso Coral always remind me of a tropical island holiday. Lucky Limeade is bright and funky, where Wisteria Wonder is a lovely soft purple... But Island Indigo just never did it for me.

It's not quiet blue and It's not quiet green. And it's not a very nice bluey/green either lol. But when I was tiding away my scrap stuff (I know. Sometimes I do try to tidy up a little bit), I noticed I had stacked the Pool Party and Island Indigo ruffled ribbon together and they looked great! Well they should, because SU are amazing at putting complimenting colours together in their little family groups. But these two were amazing together, so I thought then and there "I will use those two for my June Thank You cards" and here is the end result...

This is also a new technique for me too. I expect you guys have all done it before, as I'm always late to the party lol. This is the Embossing resistant Technique and it's my new addiction (move over Easel Cards!!)

Instead of white embossing powder I wanted to jazz it up a little so I used the Iridescent Ice powder and the effect is amazing.

It's a shame the photo doesn't pick it up but when the light catches the flowers, they look stunning!! I'm so pleased with how the whole card turned out and I hope my customers like it as much I do.

And don't forget that the stamp set I have used, Reason to Smile, is only available for purchase for the month of June. Or it can be yours for free with a customer order of $125.00 plus postage. Contact me for more details.

Have a great weekend,
Chlo
