TGIF Case the designer #88 - Happy Happenings

Christmas has been amazing and I've loved spending time with the family. we've swam everyday, eaten lots and just had a heap of fun. Unfortunately that has meant my crafting time has been no existence and so my blog has been a little quiet.

But I'm back today with my design team card for TGIF and this weeks challenge is to case one of my fellow DT's amazing creations and I was so excited to see we would be casing Kaitlyn Zumback.

When I was looking back over all of Kaitlyn's amazing creations I noticed that she likes to add a smaller panel to the middle of her cards and so that's where my inspiration came from:
Now this year, I have decided that I want to go back to more a clean and simple style of cards and this one is no different. I just love the water colour background that I have created with my aqua painters and I really wanted that, along with my sentiment, to be the hero of my card.

I added a little bit of copper thread and made the sentiment pop by cutting it out with one of the oval stitched framelits. Now all I need to do it, is pop this card in the post to my beautiful friend!!

So now it's over to you. Pop over and check out the other DT's creations and why not check out Kaitlyn's gorgeous designs and take part in our challenge this week!!

TGIF Sketch #86 Inspiration Challenge - Frosted Medallions

It's so tiring this time of year isn't it. The end of school, covering lots of holiday leave at work and trying to get ready for Christmas has kept me pretty busy. But I still found time to take part in this weeks challenge with TGIF.

This week we have a inspiration challenge which is all about snow.
http://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/2016/12/tgifc86.html
It's currently summer here is Australia and so we are lacking a little in the snow department, but I also needed to make some cards for my gorgeous team and decided to make something for them and tie in the snow theme.

I had seen this gorgeous card by Amy Koenders and I loved how she had teamed silver and gold embossing together and that gave me an idea too. So my card is totally inspired by Amy's card.

Now it's a running joke within my group that I am always late at sending out Christmas cards and that I should really send out New Year cards instead. Well thats exactly what I made for them this year. I'm guessing this will give them a bit of a giggle!!

If you are wondering how I made the silver and gold snowflakes, this next bit of info might make your OCD twitch. I sprinkled both gold and silver embossing powder all over the versarmarked image and heat set it. Yep you heard me right, I mixed two embossing powders TOGETHER!!

Shocking right I know, but doesn't it give just the most gorgeous finish.

Well that's it for me today. I'm off out with my team tonight for our Christmas party and I can't wait.  We really do love any excuse to get together!!

Make sure you pop over this weekend and check out the other DT's creations. They really are amazing.

TGIF Colour Challenge #84 - Santa's Sleigh

Welcome to a very challenging challenge from TGIF Blog!! I honestly found this colour challenge difficult. Old Olive is not a colour I like:

Ok honestly, I actually HATE it with a passion. I almost cried when I saw the colours in the photo. But I grabbed the bull by the horns and had a go. What do you think?

This isn't one of my best creations and it's probably not one of my worse either. And you know what, that's ok. Sometimes, things don't go to plan or how we had hoped. But it's just about having a go and giving something different a try.

Can I now stay that I like Old Olive a bit... No and I won't be using it again anytime soon either, but I'm ok with that!!

Well that's it today. Make sure you check out the other DT's entries and I hope you join us this week too. I'm sure your creations will be amazing.

Happy Crafting,

JAI Sketch Challenge #339 - Dragonfly Dreams

Happy Friday guys and welcome to another challenge with the Just Add Ink team.

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2016/12/just-add-ink-339sketch.html
This week we have a a fantastic sketch challenge that I really enjoyed. I also decided it was time to put the Christmas stamps away for a bit and crack open some new goodies. Here is this weeks sketch:

And for my card this week I went with the brand new stamp set called Dragonfly Dreams. This gorgeous set will be available in January in the new Occasions Catalogue.

I'm picking it now, that this set will be one of the most popular stamps of the catty. Oh and I forgot to mention, that it also has matching framelits. Winning!!

Now my inspiration for the card is actually from an upcoming birthday, that one of my dear friends if having soon. Her favourite colour is purple and she adores dragonflies.

I inked up my dragonfly with Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy. The second dragonfly is stamped on a window sheet with Stazon. Both are cut out with a matching framelit and glued together, just in the body, with a glue dot.

Ok so now it's over to you guys. Pop over to the JAI blog and check out all the other design team's cards. Geeze they are a talented bunch! And please find some time this week to take part. I would love to see what you come up with.

Happy Crafting,
Chlo
