TGIF #122 Watercolour Technique Challenge - Fabulous Flamingo

Thank goodness it's Friday and to be extra thankful we have a fabulous challenge with the TGIF design team and today we are watercolouring.
 https://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/2017/07/tgifc122-technique-challenge-watercolor.html
I love to watercolour and even though I wouldn't say I'm a natural I do think over the years I've gotten a little better. It really is practice that makes perfect in this case.

The main think that I have learnt is watercolouring needs more then one layer. And what I mean is that once you've added your first "coat" you need to allow it to dry a little before adding more colour. This way you get that sort of tide mark effect, with swirls of lighter and darker colour.

I decided to use the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set again for this card as I really do love how it looks, plus I hadn't actually made a pink flamingo creation yet... which is obviously their normal colour.

I really do love to add a die cut sentiments, the Congrats is cut from our beautiful copper foil and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see a few more thinlit sentiments in the next few catalogues. I still miss the ones that were retired recently.

So what are you plans for this weekend?? I hope you find time for a little bit of crafting in your day and remember, you can head on over to my store, which is open 24hrs 7 days a week and have your goodies delivered to you anywhere in Australia.

Happy Crafting,

TGIF #118 Emboss Resist Technique - Dragonfly Dreams

I just love this weeks challenge at TGIF. I adore the emboss resist technique so I couldn't wait to get started.
https://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/2017/07/tgifc118-technique-time-emboss-resist.html

As I was choosing a stamp set and thinking what I wanted to make, I picked up my Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and realized that it has been ages since I last inked this set up. I had always loved it and have used it heaps, but recently it has sat a little unloved so I knew today was the perfect day:

I had originally thought to make this card in a shade of blue, but I just couldn't get the right look, so I thought I'll change it up to pink and I'm totally loving it.

OK so are you wondering what happened to the actual dragonfly?? I did plan to use a whole copper dragonfly but I had recently lent my precision plate out to my friend and it meant that I couldn't use it for the Dragonflies. I tried to use my normal Bigshot plates but that little sucker would not come out whole. So while I was looking at my pile of copper wings, I had this great idea. I'll just use the wings on their own!!

So now it's over to you guys. I really can't wait to check out what you all create with this fun challenge. Oh and don't forget to check out the other amazing designers beautiful cards. So much to CASE there!!

TGIF #116 Sketch Challenge - Soft Sayings

How quickly do these Friday's seem to come around. My hubby mentions how quickly the year seems to be going (He's a half glass empty kind of person sometimes) and I said, it just means that Spring and warmer day's are just around the corner (Yep, I'm totally a full glass kind of girl!!)

But with another Friday comes with it another design team challenge and this Friday is Sketch challenge day with the girls at TGIF and I just L.O.V.E.D the sketch this week:
It's such a great one and can be used for some many different cards. I decided that I had some gorgeous paper that has been calling my name since I brought it and today just had to be the day!!

This super pretty paper is called Bundle of Love and it's so gorgeous. the first 6x pieces have a blue and vanilla pattern and then the next 6x pieces have the same pattern but in pink and vanilla. Great for wedding's or baby cards. BUT and this is what I loved most. the back side of the paper has the same pattern as before but in Vanilla and gold foil!! It really is gorgeous in real life and you just have to order some. Take my word for it you wont regret it.

And how gorgeous are those little glimmer leaves and stamp sets?! This is actually from the Soft Sayings kits. I only made up half my kit so I could use the other half on some other cards. And this stamp set, which you can only get if your purchase the full kit, is stunning.

I decided to clear emboss the flower on to the very vanilla, just to give it some dimensions and I then decided to gold emboss the sentiment because, well, you can never have enough gold and glitter!!

And now it's over to you. I really can't wait to see what you guys come up with, using this awesome sketch and don't forget to take a peek at what the other Designs have come up with too.

TGIF #110 Colour Challenge - Happy birthday Gorgeous

Yippee it's Friday but man it's freezing in my neck of the woods. But you know what? My craftroom actually has heating and so today is the perfect day to spend in my warm cozy room. And so I have been busy crafting up a storm for this weeks colour challenge at TGIF.

http://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/2017/05/tgifc110-color-challenge-bermuda-bay.html

Now, as I still had the Happy Birthday Gorgeous bundle out on my desk I thought I should have just one more play with it and this was what I came up with:

A nice, quick and easy one today. I really love how this "Happy Birthday" die stands out, no matter which colour you seem to cut it out. I think this die will get a lot of use this coming year that's for sure.

The patterned paper behind the die is actually something I made using the little flower stamps that are also in this set. I just stamped the same colour ink on the same colour cardstock and then used my trusty stitched framelit dies to cut out the squares. Easy and so effective!

So now it's time for you to tear yourself away from the new catalogue (gosh there is so much good stuff to look at) and take part in our challenge this week. I can't wait to see what you create!!

Happy Crafting,
Chlo
