Hooray for Birthday Week: Day 5 - Birthday Blooms

I've finally given in and had my first hot cross bun of the season. I know we should really wait until Easter Sunday but to be fair, they have been in the shops since New Years Eve and I've done a great job waiting this long!

With the fun of Easter setting in and the long weekend starting, it reminds me that my birthday is in three days and that's how long you have left to get in on the birthday fun. For every order of $90* placed, either through me or my online store, using the Hostess Code: QDBFNAE6, will not only get to choose a Sale-a-Bration Freebie, but will also get a Birthday present from me!!  And you will go into the draw to win all the seven cards that I will be show casing this week!!

So let me show you the card I've whipped up for you today:

Now, those who are on my mailing list (which you can join by adding your email address to the 'Receive My Newsletter' link on the right) will have already seen this card as I used it as my monthly Spotlight card, but it was far to gorgeous to not share it with all of you.

This is a Tri-Fold card and opens out to be pretty big, but when folded flat it still fit's in a standard size envelope. AusPost will thank you for that.

I stamped the flower from the Birthday Blooms stamp set in Basic Black on white Shimmery paper and then used my aqua painter to colour it in.

I think my water colouring skills have really improved and this is my best attempt so far. Through a lot of trial and error, I think colouring with the light colours and building them up is so much easier.

Well, the family and I are off to do a spot of river fishing this morning. We never catch anything, but the kids love having a go and the fish love eating all the bait that falls in!

Happy Birthday - Birthday Bouquet DSP

Omg, I actually manage to blog a card that isn't for a challenge!! Life sometimes tries to get in the way of crafting, but you just have to say enough is enough and so I have given myself this week to grab some crafty me time... oh and it just so happens my In-Laws who are staying with us for 8 weeks, have gone away this week too. Coincident??? I think not!

So to celebrate my new found craft time, I decided it was the perfect occasion to use some of the absolutely stunning Birthday Bouquet DSP. I have honestly been hoarding this paper since I got it, but like my dear Nan always said, "You can't take it with you". I'm pretty sure she wasn't talking about paper, but still the idea's the same.

How gorgeous is this paper, and in real life it's just outstanding. With such pretty, girly paper I had to add a butterfly and of course a bit of bling.

The butterfly framelits and thinlits are really a must have item and they can be used in so many different ways. I actually cut mine using the precision plate, which made the cuts beautifully clean and all those little pieces simple pop out.

Now I know the little rhinestone embellishment is not a current item, but we do have the cute little Botanical Garden Jewels, in the Occasions catalogue and they would be just as pretty.

So that's it for me today. Fingers crossed my Crafters Holiday continues and I'll be back on the blog again very soon. But mean while I thought I would share a little photo of my darling Nan and I when I visited her in the UK last year. She'll be 80 this year and is such an inspiration. I love her dearly and wish we could catch up for a cuppa more times then we do!!

Happy Crafting,
Chlo
