Scan N Cut Tutorial: How to cut around words - Bloom & Grow

I have another fun little Scan n Cut video tutorial to share with you all today, to help you deal with those pesky sentiments stamps that aren't joined together.

Now if anyone has already tried to cut around sentiment or phrase stamps on your SnC, you'll know that unless the letters are all touching each other, the machine will actually try to cut each letter our individually. Which isn't what we want at all, so here is a little trick I learnt that will help.

First you want to stamp you sentiment onto some Whisper White cardstock using a nice dark black. I love our Memento Tuxedo for this.

Next you will need a pencil and a light hand to gentle draw around the outline of your sentiment. Not to dark because you'll be rubbing it out later.

These are the settings I always have my SnC on, whether I'm cutting Stampin' Up! cardstock or their Designer Series Paper, but every SnC is different so please do a test cut before hand on some scrap

Then load up your mat and hey presto, your SnC will cut around the pencil line. For further details, check out the video tutorial.

Thank you again, for visiting and please leave a comment if you have enjoyed this tutorial or if there is anything else that you would like a tutorial on. I'm always happy to take requests.

Happy Crafting,

  1. Hello, I was wondering what the name was of the mat you used. Also, I was wondering if you had to do any adjustments to the scan and cut to use a different mat. I have tried to use a different one and the scan and cut wouldn't work.

    1. Here is the website Kat. They do mats for the new Scan N Cut too, so make sure you read all the details to find the one you need. They are based in the UK but I know they mail to Australia, so if you do need it sent to another country, just ask. They are super helpful: https://www.artistixdirect.com/brother.html

No adjustments, these mats worked just fine, as if they were the proper ones. Happy Shopping x
