Congratulations - Sheltering Tree

I've been meaning to make a Z fold card for a while and decided that it would be fun to whip one up for class this week. These kind of fancy folds are so much fun and really turn your normal card into a wow card with just one simple, extra fold.

This week in class I was designing cards using the gorgeous Sheltering Tree stamp set and showing how it can me used for more then just a tree.

In today's card I just used the "leaves" stamp to make a very stunning, yet simple background for my wooden embellishment to sit against. Doesn't it look great!! I wanted to keep the whole card very neutral, as I wanted the gorgeous Designer Series Paper to be the stand out on the card.

The paper used is called Timeless Elegance and it really is beautiful. The photo of the collection in the catalog really doesn't do this paper justice. I love absolutely every design and find it very hard to use. I'm such a paper hoarder!!

But with all my cards, I couldn't help but add a little bit of sparkly or glam to my cards and so I sneaked in a little piece of gold thread, just to give it that finished feeling!! Ahhhh, my inner Crafter is happy now.

Sheltering Tree and Watercolor Wishes Kit

Today I thought I would share one of the cards my girls will be making today at our monthly card class. I had a sudden urge to see if I could heat emboss on a Window Sheet and make a window/see through card.

I have to admit, I did have a few attempts to get the right colour/glitter combination. First I found White Embossing powder was too... well white!! Then I tried Stazon White and that wasn't quiet strong enough, so finally decided to stamp with Craft White and then add Iridescent Ice over the top and heat set it.

The sentiment is from the Watercolor Wishes card kit and I just love the font. The kit itself, is absolutely beautiful and after you've finished putting them all together, you then have these awesome sentiment stamps that can be used on all your other cards!!

Well I hope the girls enjoy making this as much as I did,

Chlo

Just Add Ink #269

Hooray for another Just Add Ink challenge!! I get so excited for Fridays, to see what the girls have planned for us each week and this one is made just for me. It's a colour challenge and it uses all my favourite Stampin' Up! colours... PERFECT!

Aren't they fantastic colours. I love all of them mixed together and the card that I made came together so easily:

I was so tempted to reach for my Watercolor Wings stamp set again, but then got this idea of silver leaves from the Sheltering Tree set. It's so cold here today that I just had the thought of winter on my mind.

I sponged the tree panel with all three blues, going from lightest out to darkest and then embossed the "leaves" with silver powder. It's so bright and shiny in real life. I wanted to keep the card a little rustic, so I used some of the embossed Tip Top Taupe paper from the 'Color Me Irresistible' DSP.

Remember, if you are in Australia and would like any of these items to make your own gorgeous creations, click on the products below and they'll drop you over to store!!

Always sending a Thank you card

Morning guys, hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!! I'm working this morning, but seriously hoping on a very crafty afternoon... with three children under 7yrs it's more a dream then a reality sometimes!!

Today I wanted to share two cards that I made a few weeks ago but because of Australia Post, I have only been able to share here today. Can you believe I sent these two cards to two different address in Sydney, plus another card (seen here) to the UK and my UK card arrived two weeks before one card and three weeks before the other!!

Anyway, before I get started on that, let me show you the cards:

Cute aren't they!! As you know I went to a Stampin' Up! event in Sydney called Party Time and I was asked, by none other then the uber talented Teneale Williams, to be one of the project designers on the day. Now I'm not ashamed to admit it, but I have a HUGE girl crush on Teneale and almost died when she called to ask me to help her out... O.M.G!!

Anyway, I had a brilliant day and got to hang out with Teneale and of course my other gorgeous demo besties Renae and Tracy (Love you girls mwah!!). So like any good card maker, I of course had to make a card for them, to say Thank You for being amazing!!

I used the leaf stamps from the 'Sheltering Tree' stamp set to make the background design on each card and then just added anything I could find in the matching colours. The cards really came together super quickly, which is why I made two more for a workshop I had. And everyone who has received them loves them. Brilliant!!

Have Fun,
Chlo

Love is like a Sheltering Tree

So I can now finally share the card I made and sent overseas to my In-laws. They have had a bit of a rough time since retiring 12 months ago and even though it's been touch and go, it looks like they are pulling through and winning the battle with cancer.

They had so many dreams of what they would do when they retired, picnic's in the park, long fishing trips and bike rides in the country. All where put on hold, when my father in-law discovered he had cancer.

I wanted to send them a card just to say I'm thinking of them and hope that some day soon, they will be able to pick up where they left off and the little bikes in the Sheltering Tree stamp set just really made me think of them:

Does it feel like a beautiful summers day? In the set the sentiment actually says "Friendship is a sheltering tree" but I didn't feel that that was right for this card. So I used my marvelous markers and inked up the word "love" from another set with the same font and stamped that first. Next I inked up the sentiment from Sheltering Tree's but left the "Friendship" word out... BINGO!! Love is a sheltering tree!!

Oh and all gorgeous cards should come dressed in a beautiful envelop if you ask me:

Seasonal Sheltering Tree

I finally got my hands on the new stamp set Sheltering Tree and I am totally over the moon with it. It's such a gorgeous set, that I think it will be a keeper long after it retires.

My first card I made with it, I can't actually share with you all yet, as it was made with someone in mind and it's currently in the post winging it's way to them. It's not my usual style but fits the person it's for perfectly.

So after making "THAT" card, I then decided to have a play and make a set of seasonal cards that I had in my head and here is the result:

So simple and unfussy, but I think they are beautiful. I'm actually going to run a class on them as I loved making them so much. They would also look beautiful in a frame I think.

Now before you mention it, yes there are four seasons and yes I've only got three cards. The reason is, I do have an Autumn tree but I've actually run out of the baked brown sugar sequins in the in-colour sequin pack... yep that's right, I've actually picked out every, single last sequin!!

Here is a close up of each of them:

Spring: Reminded me of the Cherry Blossom

Summer: Full, green and bushy

Snow covered with sparkly icy sequins
As soon as my new order of sequins arrives, I'll get busy finishing Autumn and then will upload and share it with you all. Oh and don't forget to check back in later, to see the other Sheltering Tree card.

Have Fun,
Chlo
