Can You Case It #118 - Sketch Challenge

http://canyoucaseit.com/?p=3107

I can't believe we are at the end of another weekend already. But the good news is I have been crafting up a storm these last few days and I have a fab little card to share with you today for the Can You Case It challenge. This week we have a great sketch to share with you all and the shape can be anything!

http://canyoucaseit.com/?p=3107
I of course had to go against the grain and decided on butterflies as my shape:

Now Melon Mambo, really isn't a colour I use too often. I think I can fess up and say that it is'nt a fav of mine. Such a shocking confession I know!

My inspiration of this card came from one of the cards I made up that was in the kit Tin of Cards. Out of the four design, the butterfly one really stuck out for me. I just loved the idea of stamping a word, in this case Happy, over and over again on the full butterfly and then placing a "skeleton" butterfly over the top. Such a great little technique.

Hot pink, black and silver are just made for each other, so the rest of the card came together super quickly.

Now it's your turn! Head on over the the CYCI blog, check out the cards made by the other DT's and then take part yourself.

Happy Crafting,
Chlo

Can you case it? Challenges #101

http://canyoucaseit.com/

So I can finally reveal my super exciting news and which is I recently become one of the newest members of the Design Team for the Can You Case It? Challenge blog!!

I was absolutely thrilled when I was asked to join them this year and I really couldn't wait to get started with them all. The girls are an amazing mix of cardmakers and I just hope I can do the team justice with my weekly creations.

And talking of weekly creations here is my first Design Team challenge, which is a colour challenge:

http://canyoucaseit.com/

And here is my card, using Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.

I decided to give my water colouring another go, as it's something I'm always working on lol. I choose to use another new stamp set from the Occasions Catty (Goes live in 2 days!!) called Birthday Blooms. I used my aqua painter and a little... and I mean a little, bit of Blackberry Bliss to colour in the gorgeous bloom. Man, a little of that colour can go a long way. I then chose Lost Lagoon as my "blue" because it has such a green undertone and teamed perfectly with the leaves.

Did you also notice a couple of other NEW goodies? The gorgeous glittery Pool Party ribbon, is simply Divine in real life. so soft and really catches the light. And we are now stocking Wink of Stella, which really adds a WOW to everything it touches. I had never used it before, but can see this is quickly going to become an addiction as I just want to add it to everything!!

To finish the card off, I added some of the splatter stamps from Gorgeous Grunge in Crumb Cake and then a few with gold embossing powder just to mix up the textures.

The overall card feels very glamorous and classy, so guessing it will have to be sent to a classy lady. Might make a great a Mother's Day card.

So I hope I've inspired you to take part in the Can You Case It? Challenge, this week. Jump on over to the blog, take a look at what the other talented DT's have come up with and upload you creations there!

Happy Crafting,
Chlo

Words of Truth

It was Hubby's Birthday last week, and he's not really a fan and doesn't really get into the spirit of all the fun that comes with having a birthday.

I of course still decided to make him a card, but I've learnt there isn't too much point going "all out" for him as he only say's "That's nice!" when he gets it. So the card I made him, literally took me about 15 minutes, and it only took that long because I couldn't decide on which colours to use!

I of course turned to my trusty "Go to Man Stamp" Gorgeous Grunge because it can make any card look brilliant in just a matter of a few stamps. Now I do use it a lot for my guy cards, but it's so versitile that I've used it for any occasion, even vintage chic cards.

The sentiment is from the new stamp set 'Words of Truth' and it suits Mr.E right down to the ground, as we all think he's pretty awesome around here!! I have to say I love this new sentiment set. So many fun pharses and the typewriter font is so on trend at the moment too.

Now I know you don't usually add any glitter to a guys card, but I didn't think the gold metallic thread, classed as sparkly and it just gives it a nice little touch!!

Oh and I almost forgot to mention our new Thicker Whisper White Cardstock!!! It is brilliant for stamping and now perfect thickness to be used as a card base. I reckon the Craft Angels were singing the Day Stampin' Up! finally decided on this!!

When I gave it to Mr.E, he looked at it and "Oh, that's nice" and moved on... Nothing changes lol,

Nipper of the Year

I can't believe that Summer is just around the corner and that means a new season of Nipper starts any day now. My eldest loved her first nipper season and can't wait for the Sundays at the beach to start again.

Now I have to admit that I have been very slack with my scrapping lately and even though DD was picked Nipper of the Year for her age group last year and I had taken heaps of photos of her with her awards, I still hadn't scrapped them... until now that is!!

After we made a Sunburst card for class, I decided that it would make the perfect layout for a day at the beach, or in my case, a life as a Nipper.

I really love how using Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie together with some sponging has given this layout a brilliant sun ray effect.

I also used the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp set to add some texture to the Crumb Cake cardstock, to resemble sand. Pretty clever I thought! Oh and did you notice the orange chevron washi tape? That's from the new Holiday Catalogue, part of the Halloween washi pack.

Anyway, this layout has been such a hit, my Scrapbooking class next month will be making one for themselves!!

Have fun,
Chlo

Hello scrapping mojo, where have you been

I have a little confession to make. The thought of my upcoming scrapbook classes scared the life out of me. No, really it did. It's funny as that's how I got into all this, from scrapbooking. I have five albums on the go and three are full up. That's a lot of pages, but I haven't done a layout in about a year... well actually it's almost 2!!

But I got a few requests to run some classes and so I thought why not. But then the panic set in. What if I can't do it anymore? What if I've forgotten how to scrapbook...

Well I can tell you, its like riding a bicycle. You never truly forget. And the fact is, once I got over my fear it all came flooding back and I have LOVED every minute of it. So, I thought I would share a layout that I did today which was so quick and soooo much fun. This is one that you could do with the kids, it's that easy.

These are some photos of my two boys painting together at Preschool. It's extra sweet because they are no longer in the same age room and so this was the only time they got to hang out together as buddes.

I've used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and just picked four colours out of the photos and then pretty much just stamped them everywhere lol. I thought it was the perfect effect for some arty crafty school fun.

I also thought swaping around some of the letter from upper case to lower, just added to that relaxed, creative feel.

I had so much fun doing layouts again, that you can expect to see lots more to come!!

Have Fun,
Chlo

Sneak Peek - Something New!!

Today I had planned to share some cards I've been making using retired goodies, as this will be my last chance to use them.

But I have to admit I'm one of those demos who has to have new things and even though I'm sad to see stamps, colours, paper and other bits and pieces retire, I'm never sad enough to hold onto any of them as I know I will always reach for my new goodies every time!

So today is no exception to that. I have been itching to use my washi tape that came in the This and That Bundle, oh and even though you can't get the items as a "bundle" now, they are still available to buy separately. You don't have to wait for the new catty to buy them!!

You might also notice I used a new, and probably a favourite, stamp set that we got at convention called Gorgeous Grunge. This set is how I made all the great paint splatter effect you can see in the corners. I just love how easy it was to "grunge" up the card in minutes. Oh and who doesn't love the washi tape!!! I mean, honestly, have you tried this stuff? Its awesome and I sooo hope we get more of it... LOTS more please!!!

So that's all the sneaks for today. I'm sitting waiting very (un) patiently for my big brown box of goodies to arrive so I can start sharing more great cards using stamps from our Awesome new catalogue!!

Have Fun,
Chlo

South Pacific Convention - Part 2

I can really begin to tell you how much fun Convention was. I think everyone should find the chance to attend at one point. I came back with so much information and just bursting with new ideas. Now I can't show you all the new goodies we got ( and we did get HEAPS!!!) but I can show you a few things I brought from Memento Mall...

And this was only a few bits of what we could have brought. Oh and a warning to all new Memento Mall goers, it is like a feeding frenzy when they lift the limits, so if you "Need" anything, get in quick lol.

The other part of Convention that I really enjoyed was swapping cards with fellow Demo's. It's such a great way to meet with other demos and share ideas. Here are a few of the swap cards I received.

OK, on Friday we managed to get some time to do 'Make and Takes', this is where we got to play with some new stamps and the in-colours. I cant actually show you any photos of the actually stamp sets, but I can show you what I made using them.

Oh and I have to share a photo of this amazing cake, that someone made (if you happen to know who it was, please let me know) It's amazing and must have taken ages. A real labour of love!!

And lastly we had an awards night, where we celebrate peoples hard work through the year. I didn't get to "walk the stage" this year, but seeing all those amazing demos, really inspired me to try for next year.

Doesn't convention look like fun!! you wanna come next year? contact me for more information on how to join my team The Closet Crafters. Oh and if your wondering where it will be held next year...

Hope to see you there next year!!!

Have Fun,
Chlo
