Can You Case It #134 Theme Challenge

Welcome to Sunday and another challenge from the fantastic designers at CYCI. This week we have a theme challenge and it's all about your pets.
When I came to sit down and make this card, I had a bit of trouble as it turns out I have no animal stamps at all... unless you class the dinosaurs!! But I used a little bit of out the box thinking and this is what I came up with.
It's a pretty simple card this week, but it's actually heading over to my neighbour who recently lost his dog, of 14years, Sammy. It's like losing one of the family and the kids are also pretty upset by it all. I just wanted them to know we are thinking of them.

Now the punch art paw print isn't something new, but I have always had it in the back of my mind to try it out and thought this this weeks challenge was perfect timing.

I used the sweetheart punch for the main paw print and then four little 3/4" circle punches for each pad. The background is a wash of Emerald Envy on some Shimmery white.

So now it's over to you guys. Hop over to the blog and check out the DT's inspirational designs and then take a little craft time to take part yourself. We always love to see what you come us with!!

TGIF Theme Challenge #69 - Thoughtful Branches Teacher Thank You

Hooray for the weekend and hooray for a turn to warmer weather!! I just love Friday's and I love them even more when the weather is warm and sunny. It reminds me that Winter is almost over and Summer is just around the corner!!

And another hooray for being my week for designing over at TGIF and this week we have a theme challenge which I really enjoyed.
Now usually I would have thought, OMG what do I do for this, but my daughter just so happened to came home with her NAPLAN results (an exam that all year 3's and 5's do in Australia) and her results were absolutely fantastic. We were all so worried for her and it turns out we really didn't need to. Her school and especially her teacher are absolutely amazing and so caring and dedicated that I decided to send her teacher a Thank You card and of course, tie it in with our challenge today:

Isn't it a fab idea for a card!! I'm just loving the Thoughtful Branches Bundle and find it so versatile. I first saw the idea of turning the top half of the tree into a fruit when Kim Jolley from Stampin Artfully made her's into a pumpkin. I just thought that it was an amazing idea, but knew I would never need a pumpkin however it would be a perfect idea for an apple.

I used the tree trunk from Thoughtful Branches to make a stem (I just cut it down a little) and of course stamped a couple of leaves.

The blackboard effect was made by wiping our embossing buddy all over some Basic Black cardstock and I used a white gel pen for the outline. It's hard to see in the photo, but I also stamped our Hardwood background stamp onto the Kraft card base, just to give it more texture and make it feel like blackboard.

I'm so thrilled with how well this card came out that I have decided to make another one for my son's teacher too. I'm a big sender of Thank You cards and I think it's always nice to let people know that they are appreciated!!

I hope you guys get time to join in with us this week and make sure you pop over to the blog and check out what the other gorgeous DT's have come up with!!

Thoughtful Branches - Only 2 weeks left!!

Wow, are you guys loving the new Thoughtful Branches bundle?? I've been busy making cards for this months class with this set and it really is fantastic. Pinterest and Google have so many cards to CASE that you really wont have any problems coming up with inspiration!!

And talking about inspiration, here is my card:
Out of all the gorgeous framelits in this set, I really loved the intricate leaf die. It's such a beautiful shape and I knew it would look fantastic in our new copper foil (which is coming up in the Holiday Catalogue).

I decided to pair the copper with Sweet Sugarplum and Crumb Cake. Those colours together are simply gorgeous and I was excited to use yet another new product from the Holiday Catalogue and that was the new Sweet Sugarplum glitter ribbon.

Now you might be wondering where it is on my card... well do you see all those little
strands sticking out behind the sentiment?? That is the glitter ribbon! I cut through the middle of the ribbon lengthwise and the ribbon separated into individual strands. I then just round them around  my finger and secured them together with a glue dot.

Well, I better get back to my class prep!! The Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue will be available to order from on the 1st Sept. If you would like to get your own copy in advance and don't already have a demonstrator, click HERE and send me email with your name and address and I'll pop one in the mail to you.

Santa's Sleigh - Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek

Ok, so I made this card today and usually I would have blogged about it tomorrow or even Sunday, but to be honest I just loved it so much and completely thrilled with how it came out, that I really couldn't wait to share it with you all!!
Gosh, isn't that just the cutest Christmas card. I usually send a special card to my Mum, Nan and Mother-in-law but I love this one so much I'm pretty sure I'll be posting it to myself!!

Z folds are all in at the moment and as soon as I got my new Santa's Sleigh stamp set and matching framelits I knew this was what I was going to use it for. Funnily enough, my gorgeous friend and fellow demo Kim at Kim's Paper Krafts, had the exact same idea and so we got together this afternoon for a few hours and made our cards. They are kind of the same but different. I sponged my background, where Kim used the salt resist technique. I love the fact we had the same plan but came up with different cards. You can see hers over at her blog.

There are so many Holiday Catalogue sneak peeks on this card. We have the Santa's Sleigh stamps and framelits which come in a bundle and the little jingle bells which come in a mixed box of silver and red. Oh and yes they do really ring too.

I'm really glad I got to share my card with you and remember if you would like you very own copy of the Holiday catalogue just click HERE. Ordering from the catalogue starts on Sept 1st, which is only a few weeks away!!
