Still time for one more Christmas in July card - Santa's Sleigh

I do realize that it is cutting it fine sharing one more Christmas in July  card but the sketch challenge that the team at Just Add Ink are running this week made me think of this card design and even though it was my DT week I couldn't help still joining in the fun. So this is sketch for this week:

And I knew exactly what I was going to do for my card:

Now I really have used the Santa's Sleigh stamp set to death. I think this might be my 10th card design with it and I actually have one more at least to share this week, but I realised that I have never used the little stocking stamp from the set on a card. So that was my focal for this card.

I stamped the stockings onto some shimmery white cardstock as that is what I love to watercolour with and I used my aqua painters to pick up some ink from the lids of the stamp pads. Such an easy way to colour.

The little present stamps in the set really do make a fun background or faux patterned paper. I love to do this when I don't just the right DSP... even if I do have 100's of sheets of paper!

The girls at JAI really have made some amazing cards this week and I would love for you all to pop on over and take a peek. Oh and don't forget to use this sketch yourself and share it with us. We love to see what you make.

TGIF #118 Emboss Resist Technique - Dragonfly Dreams

I just love this weeks challenge at TGIF. I adore the emboss resist technique so I couldn't wait to get started.
https://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/2017/07/tgifc118-technique-time-emboss-resist.html

As I was choosing a stamp set and thinking what I wanted to make, I picked up my Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and realized that it has been ages since I last inked this set up. I had always loved it and have used it heaps, but recently it has sat a little unloved so I knew today was the perfect day:

I had originally thought to make this card in a shade of blue, but I just couldn't get the right look, so I thought I'll change it up to pink and I'm totally loving it.

OK so are you wondering what happened to the actual dragonfly?? I did plan to use a whole copper dragonfly but I had recently lent my precision plate out to my friend and it meant that I couldn't use it for the Dragonflies. I tried to use my normal Bigshot plates but that little sucker would not come out whole. So while I was looking at my pile of copper wings, I had this great idea. I'll just use the wings on their own!!

So now it's over to you guys. I really can't wait to check out what you all create with this fun challenge. Oh and don't forget to check out the other amazing designers beautiful cards. So much to CASE there!!

You Octopi my Thoughts - Message in a Bottle

Can't believe we are already half way through the winter school holiday's. I have really enjoyed spending times with the kidlits and we have had so much fun. A few movie dates have been planned, a trip to our local Exhibition centre to watch an amazing dinosaur show, plus of course crafting time with Mum.

I think that is what the kids love the most. Getting to come and play with my toys and spending time with me. My boy's had a ball cutting, punching and stamping everything and anything they could get their hands on, while my daughter (who is 10yrs) wanted to make something she can actually send to her friends. So we played with the new Soft Sayings card kits and she loved it. I'm going to have to start buying her a few kits for Christmas and Birthday presents as they really are great for kids!!

Anyway, while all the craft craziness was happening, I made a little simply card with the new Message in a bottle stamp set. I had already used this card last week, which you can see here, but I had really been wanting to use the little octopus from this set with the really cute sentiment "You Octopi my Thoughts".

How cute it he!! So this card is very close to my little mermaid card and that's because I decided to CASE myself. I've never done that before and so I thought well why not.

Instead of using the woodgrain stamp this time, I changed it up a little by using some of Wood Texture DSP. I also decided to keep the copper thread, netting look, as it just goes so well with this set.

Well that's it for me today. I better take the kids out for a run before they get cabin fever!! Have a fantastic weekend!!

Clear Block Watercolour Technique - Happy Birthday Gorgeous

Do you ever see a card or technique and just feel the need to drop everything you are doing and go off to make it? Well that is exactly what happened to me while I was surfing Pinterest the other day. I came across this amazing card by the super talented Julie DiMatteo from the Paper Pixie.

I had seen a few techniques of block stamping before and I have done a few myself, but the intense colours from Julie's technique was awesome and I couldn't wait to have a go. Here is my CASE of Julie's card:

Honestly, this technique is soooo much fun. I think I have made 30 cards this way and actually used this design as my RAK card for last month.

The colours that I used for this particular card were inspired my a poster that I had seen at the local are gallery the other week. I just love how each colour blends so well together but also pop's and sets of the next colour.

When you had over to Julie's blog you will see she has an awesome video tutorialon how to make this card, so make sure you check that out. I promise you, you might get messy, but it really is so much fun!!
