Happy Mail Send Out - Bird Ballad

I've been busy this week, making heaps of cards and sending them out to all the people that I'm missing at the moment. I will admit I'm a complete extrovert and this isolation is really hard to swallow. A friend sent me a meme the other day that said "Check on your Extrovert friends, they are NOT ok". It's so true and it really made me giggle.

Anyway, craft always cheers me up and sending happy mail makes me happier then receiving it. Plus I decided to use the left over scraps of the Bird Ballad designer series paper, which is bound to put a smile on anyone's face.

Yes I did fussy cut out that little bird and his branch. I tried to run it though my Scan N Cut but it just couldn't find the image, so in the end I decided to cut them myself. I am someone who does enjoy a good bit of fussy cutting, so it was very therapeutic.

The checkered pattern paper behind the bird is also retired, but I do know you can still purchase our designer series paper stacks, in each colour group and in there you will find this pattern too.

I of course couldn't just make one colour card...

This time I did a Balmy Blue one and as you can see from the close up shot below, I also made one in Petal Pink too.

I really love and adore this Scripty embossing folder and if you haven't already added this folder to your collection, you really need to. It's simply perfect for every occasion.

Oh and a quick tip. If you CASE my card, don't throw the cut out circle away. I have another set of cards to share later in the week, where I've actually used that circle.

So why not send a little happy mail out. I'm sure anyone who receives a handmade card will be over the moon to know someone is thinking of them!

Floating Frame Technique - Bird Ballad

This technique is such a fun one and I have seen so many gorgeous cards made with this same design. I originally saw this card made by Jennifer McGuire. In fact I believe her husband actually invented the Glad Press and Seal, which is the product you will need for this technique. Cool husband to have!

Now, I do know that here in Australia, we can't seem to source Press and Seal, but I have heard that it can be purchased online, so have a bit of a Google for it. I actually picked mine up when I went to Florida with Stampin' Up last year.

OK so let's a take a look at the card, so you can see what all the hype is on it:

So super pretty right!! And the best thing is, because we cut a space for the sentiment, we can then use the left over piece to make another card.


Ok, so I'm guessing you all want to know how to actually make this card and did I actually fussy cut all those birds and flowers (I actually used my Scan N Cut for that and have a video HERE about it)

Base - 8" x 5 3/4"
Whisper White Mat - 5 1/2" x 3 3/4"
DSP - 5 3/8" x 3 5/8"

Scan N Cut Tutorial: How to cut DSP - Bird Ballad

I get a lot of people ask me how I use my Scan N Cut with my Stampin' Up products and supplies and so I thought I might include a few video tutorials to help my fellow SNC users to get more out of their electric cutters and their Stampin' Up goodies.

Sometimes we can get overwhelmed with all the different things this awesome cutters can do and so it scares us into trying out, in fear of breaking the machine, cutting a hole in the mat or running your paper. But I'm to show you how easy it really is.

So today I wanted to share a video on how I used my machine to cut out the gorgeous birds and flowers from the Bird Ballad designer series paper. This machine is brilliant for this activity and once you get the hang of it, you'll no longer want to hoard all the paper. It really does open up a whole new world and hopefully my video makes the process super simple and easy:

Quick and Simple Card - Free as a Bird

I was in the process of making a card on Friday for my upcoming class and couldn't decided whether I wanted to mount the card front onto a Whisper White base or Early Espresso. So I posted a poll on Facebook for help and after more then 30 responses, I was still none the wise. The vote was split. So I did the only think that I could do, I made two.

I love these little birds from the Bird Ballad designer Series paper. Unfortunately we don't have a die for them, so fussy cutting is the way to go. Unless you have an electric cutter like me and then it's literally a piece of cake.

I also did a very quick FB live video, showing a tutorial and how I made these fun cards. I have since uploaded it to YouTube for you guys to watch it too.

Card Measurements

Base: 11 1/2" x 4"
Mossy Meadow Panel: 3 1/8" x 4 7/8"
Whisper White Front: 3" x 4 3/4"
